Genuine Parts and Service Kits

Every service at CPK McLaren Motorbody in Leongatha is completed using genuine parts and manufacturer-specification service kits. The correct oil grade, correct filters, correct fluids, to the correct intervals for your vehicle.

What this means in practice

“Genuine parts” is not a marketing phrase here. It refers to parts manufactured to the specification published by the vehicle manufacturer. The same tolerance, the same grade, the same fit that the vehicle was designed for.

In practical terms, that means:

Engine oil to manufacturer specification. Not “10W-40 semi-synthetic” chosen off the shelf. BMW LL-01, VW 504 00 / 507 00, Mercedes 229.5 or 229.51, and equivalent specifications depending on the vehicle. The correct oil for the specific engine architecture.

OE-quality oil filters. Designed to handle the correct flow rate and filter particulate size for the engine. Underspec filters can allow oil bypass at cold starts, which affects bearing surfaces.

Air and cabin filters. Correct dimensions and filtration rating for the vehicle. Not a universal fit.

Spark plugs. The correct heat range and thread specification for the cylinder head. Incorrect spark plugs cause misfires, premature wear, and in some cases damage to the combustion chamber.

Transmission fluid where scheduled. Particularly important for DSG and dual-clutch gearboxes, which require specific fluids at specific intervals.

Brake fluid. Changed at the manufacturer’s specified interval, typically every two years for DOT 4, regardless of kilometres. Not deferred.

We follow the service schedule the manufacturer published for your specific vehicle. Not a generic template.

Why it matters for your warranty

When a warranty claim goes in, the manufacturer or their dealer will look at what was used in your vehicle’s service history. Parts history matters. If the service records show correct oil grades and genuine service kits, the claim is straightforward. If there is a question over what was used, that question works against you.

The standard we work to removes that question. For a full explanation of how we protect your factory warranty, see our Factory Warranty Servicing page.

For the difference between genuine, OEM, and aftermarket parts in detail, see our blog post on parts and warranty protection. This page is about what we use, not the parts types explained from scratch.

Why it matters for your vehicle long-term

Beyond warranty, there is a practical argument for genuine parts. Correct specifications reduce wear and help the vehicle perform as intended across its service life. Resale value also benefits from a clean service history with the right parts on record.

We are not in the business of finding out which corners can be cut. Genuine parts and correct fluids are what the vehicle requires, so that is what we use.

What a genuine service kit includes

A standard service at CPK McLaren Motorbody covers the following. Exact items vary by vehicle and service interval:

  • Engine oil to manufacturer specification and correct volume
  • Oil filter, OE grade
  • Air filter, manufacturer specification
  • Cabin filter, manufacturer specification
  • Spark plugs where due per the service schedule
  • Transmission fluid where scheduled
  • Brake fluid, every two years as standard
  • Coolant top-up or change as scheduled
  • All associated seals and gaskets

We follow your specific vehicle’s log book schedule to determine which items are due. We do not add unnecessary items, and we do not skip items because they are inconvenient.

If you drive a European or prestige vehicle, our European Car Servicing page covers the brand-specific procedures and failure modes we work around.
